The AWHERO’s latest developments were presented on the 5th June during SEAFUTURE (La Spezia, Marina Militare Naval Base), the business convention for maritime and dual use technologies, unique in the Mediterranean basin.
AWHERO is Leonardo’s leading-edge 200 kg-class Rotary UAS capable to deliver the highest levels of mission availability, operational flexibility and mission effectiveness. It is the only rotary UAS in its class having achieved the Military Certification providing customers with a military grade capability.
The latest developments of the AWHERO, aimed to further extend product’s operational capabilities, include: 
  • Optimized fuselage to further improve: payload bay capacity, radar integration, sensors modularity and platform maintainability;
  • Heavy Fuel Engine based on an already in service and proven core engine. Twin-engine solution to target increased efficiency, safety and time between overhaul;
  • Increased tail authority for improved ship-borne operations;
  • Improved platform survivability
  • Reshaped landing gear to maximize sensors field of view
